This directory is a comprehensive listing of the filmmakers from TIFF’s renowned Planet Africa program (1995 - 2004) dedicated to Cinema from Africa and the African diaspora, including shorts, documentaries, features, world premiers and country spotlights.
Visit us Septenber 10, 2020 as we unveil the 25th Anniversary Special Edition Planet Africa 25 Program which welcomes several more filmmakers to the Planet Africa Legacy.
The Planet Africa film program showcased over 150 films representing Filmmakers in a wide variety of genres, from emerging to world renowned, from across the globe and perspectives, side by side in an eclectic collection of creative excellence.
Many of these filmmakers have gone on to create internationally prized, critically acclaimed work. Many have returned to TIFF, garnering worldwide audiences, and helping make Toronto a core destination for Black-centred film and talent.
